YAY! You’re engaged, huge congratulations!! Planning a wedding is a wonderfully magical experience and such an exciting time for any couple. It can, at times, also be a little daunting and stressful. The chances are you have never planned a big event before, or at least not very often! Now throw in a global pandemic and a national lockdown, ok maybe a little more stressful and unique! But don’t let that stop you. Where there’s a will there’s a way!
Planning a wedding during a lockdown may not be what you originally imagined, but there are ways you can alternatively make the most of your wedding planning until lockdown lifts.
1. Pinterest is your bestie.
There is a phrase, Pinterest wedding vs real wedding. There are so many amazing ideas and photographs on Pinterest that will help you envisage your dream wedding and really bring it to life! Luckily, Pinterest is online, and you can safely relax at home as you pin away lots of lovely wedding ideas. You could also share your Pinterest board with suppliers, invite your photographer to share a board with you to show your photography ideas or your cake designer to give them lots of inspiration for creating your dream wedding cake. This will help you and your chosen suppliers to build a relationship and understanding of what it is you want from them and your wedding; and help them to make your Pinterest dreams a reality. This is something I would strongly recommend anyway to anyone planning a wedding. So, pour yourself a big glass of wine and pin away!
While we are on the subject of social media, Instagram is such a great place to look at wedding inspiration by searching hashtags or looking at real wedding photos tagged at your venue. You will be able to see so much inspiration and genuine wedding examples at your chosen venue or from your chosen suppliers.
3. Choosing your venue.
If you have yet to book your venue and date, a lot of venues are offering virtual tours to help you make the decision about where you will get married. The venue is a big choice so if you can’t go and see it and are keen to get a date booked in, a virtual tour is the next best thing for you! You can also extensively look around your venues website and all social media platforms to see lots of examples of real weddings and information to help you make an informed decision.
It is so lovely meeting clients for a coffee to get to know one another better ahead of the wedding day and go through all the plans and finer details. We can still do that with you! But it will be on FaceTime or Zoom for now. And that coffee might be wine since no one is driving. (Every cloud and all that)
5. Cake tasting.
Saved the best until last! We all know one major fun part of planning a wedding is the cake tasting! This can still happen; your cake designer can send you cake to taste safely at home. Cake delivery, it’s a yes from me.
So, there’s 5 ways to continue planning your wedding and having some fun at the same time during an understandably stressful and uncertain time. If you are planning your wedding and are looking for your wedding photographer get in touch for a chat, I would love to hear all about your wedding day plans!
